Saw my GP earlier for an arthritis check up and checked out my suspected sun damage.

She reckons it's pityriasis versicolor (full marks for Sara for suggesting it) and have some cream to get rid of it.

Fingers crossed all will be back to normal soon :)

My ESR (inflammation) seems to have shot up and GP not happy I still have bruises and pain from an injury aggravated back on New Years Eve so back to rhumo for me...joy!

Jenna haven't been on much lately so have missed your previous threads - but, am glad to hear whatever you've got you have some cream for it and it's going to make you better!!!
Bummer about an inflamation flare up though - still, you have us lot on AB which has to be a cheery thought hey?
glad to hear you went to the doc's, sis :o)

what cream did they give you, if you don't mind my asking?

Glad I did, should have gone sooner and getting some things sorted.

It's Daktarin cream, says micinazole nitrate. Much cheaper over the counter too :) She mentioned some shampoos you leave on and wash off but wanted to try a cream first, quite glad as the cream sounds a lot easier :)
I've had Nizoral cream, and now Selsun shampoo.. neither seems to have made much difference so far :o/

Thanks Carmalee :) it does. Hopefully a meds review with sort the inflammation. Due back in October but GP wants to see if they can fit me in sooner and said she is going to write to orthapedics to get their opinion on my knee/ankle as not typical inflammatory, feels more mechanical.

Shouldn't have left it so long really - figured I'd just to be told it was an arthritis thing. It's been niggling on and off for a year then hurt my ankle in New Years Eve (that'll teach me for braving heels!) and some of the bruising never went away. Don't know where the time has gone this year mind and been rather distracted though.

Things are getting sorted though.

How long has it been sis? I did some googling and it reckons it could take 3-6 months for the skin to sort itself out after starting treatment :(

Maybe I should invest in a fringe...
I did about 6 weeks with the Nizoral, but was then prescribed the Selsun shampoo.. I don't like it. my doc said it should go in about 6 weeks, but said if you don't get the lot it may come back. she reckons on shampooing the scalp in case there's any there :o(
Question Author
:( I thought maybe it might be because I have oily skin (constantly bugs me on my FB photos from nights out) which seems to cope as well as I do in the heat (ie not very well) so maybe a combination of oily skin and the warmer weather kicked it off.

Will let you know how I get on with the cream. Not expecting any results for a while having read up though, maybe the fringe (and a vat of concealer) is the way to go! I'm sure it's far more noticeable to me than anyone else though.
