Got about 15 really itchy bites (don't know what got me, but they are quite inflamed and are driving me barmy). Should I put Savalon anti-septic on them, take a hay fever tablet or use the foreign stuff I bought (called After Bite) which has no instructions and stings like buggery? Thanks for any answers (especially quick ones as I feel like scratching the skin off my arms!!!!).

Antihistamines & the after bite!
Yes

Thanks - will go and take a hay fever tablet now and jab on the stingy stuff.
You could try putting something cold over the bites too for short term relief from the itching.
Tomorrow (or tonight if there is anywhere local open), pop out and get a tube of Antihisan cream.

Is the After Bite in an orange tube? And smells like wee? If so, slap that on, I bought some of that from Boots and used it on midge bites. I swore by it.
I always take After Bite on hols with me, get it from Boots so it's not foreign. I'd use that (just roll it on) and an antihistamine if you have them. And don't scratch!
Foreign stuff, sherrard? After Bite is my salvation, you can buy it here in Boots (and I do, all the time!). You upend the afterbite stick onto the bite and rub it hard, so the ammonia comes out (it dribbles a bit) - it really works for me. Repeat as required - but I tend to strike as soon as I get bitten, it sounds as if yours might be a bit further on. You don't want the bubbles to develop. After Bite is wonderful, I've got one in my handbag at the moment.

Sorry - my After Bite is foreign (bought it at the airport) - it is a fat pen type thing, but seems to dribble a lot so must be the same stuff. My tube just has pictures of bugs on it and some Spanish writing. Must have been bitten on Saturday and Sunday as I was all right before that.
At the moment I have about 19 bites from venturing out on the veggie patch yesterday evening. I have taken an antihistamine tablet and put HC1 steroid cream on the bites. It's biting weather, hot and humid and I am not going out there again!!
That's the one, sherrard - if you go to the chemist tomorrow, you'll be able to read the instruction! It's excellent stuff.
I never feel them biting.

Looked at the instructions for use on the Internet - seems I was using it properly anyway (doesn't mention anything about it stinging so much though!).
It probably stings because you have been scratching and you've probably broken the skin a bit. Technically, you shouldn't use on broken skin, but I don't think it will kill you, just smart a bit.

Quick update - took the hay fever tablet and the itching has subsided (gave the after bite stuff a swerve as it really stings - will use it later if need be).
A wee spot of anti-bacterial hand gel on each bite will ease the itching as well :)
It only stings if the skin's irritated sher - I just got bitten behind my knee so OH is lathering on the AfterBite already!
bit of benadryl if you have some.....

daytime - some tea or chrysathenum oil to prevent the baztards from biting - seriously I have over 50 bites on my ankles....

Avon blue soft skin lotion if you have it works as well apparently

I had already scratched/rubbed them to buggery before I had got the after bite stuff - don't know what got me, some nasty thing though - each bite has an infected area about the size of a two pound coin around it and I have at least fifteen of them (luckily, no one else seems to have been bitten).
its the red wine in you sherrard!
better check on that, I thought I had been bitten a few months ago -turned out I had shingles.
