Why dont we celebrate St Georges Day?

Some people make so much of St Patricks Day yet choose to ignore St George's Day. (of course I am talking people who actually are English) My neighbour makes a big deal of the Irish day yet nothing for his own day.

 

Another neighbour has a vase of red roses in the window and a St Georges flag stuck in the vase.

 

I send a card to everyone in my house, only a bit of fun but can't just ignore the day myself.

Why do you want to celebrate St. George's day? Is it because there's some kind of Saint's day envy going on with the Irish? or is it to celebrate your Englishness?

I knew it was the 23rd and I am celebrating by going to a metal bands all dayer at a pub and getting hammered.  Seems fitting enough to me.
