Had a mole removed from my back yesterday and it hasn't stopped itching since! It's got a dressing on it which I just want to rip off and give my back a good old scratch! Any ideas what I can do? X

hard I know, but try to ignore the itchynes, leave it alone, if you scratch you may well get it infected!......not good!.........
maybe try a cold pack over the dressing but wrap a cloth round to protect surrounding skin. Pack of frozen peas or similar is good.

It's driving me nuts lol. I will try putting something cold onto it? Not sure how I'm going to keep it there though as it's right between my shoulder blades. Really awkward place :( x
If it itches that means its healing, its the little nerve endings all knitting together. So do not scratch or you'll undo all the good work its doing.
(Isn't the body a wonderful thing, self healing)

You could possibly be reacting to the adhesive in the dressing, see how it is tomorrow.
Question Author
I think I will :). I get to take it off tomorrow, can't blaming wait hehe I feel for anyone that has had to have a cast! Goodness knows how they cope x
i thought itching meant it was becoming infected...?

I've got to keep it dry until Thursday afternoon when I can take the dressing off. Thanks for all the suggestions though x
If you have any cortisone ointment or antihistamine cream, that will stop the itching.
Question Author
Thanks sqad. I will pick some up today :) x
Try patting around the area, anything to work the local nerves and disguise the itch.
i find if you scratch but running your nails sideways across the itch, it helps...i have eczema and scraping forwards just damages the skin, but that way it just relieves it a bit
Question Author
Thanks all for your suggestions, I have taken the dressing off now *huge sigh of relief*. Needs a clean so have to wait for the OH to come home as it's in an awkward position for me to do it myself x
