i,m a fifty something female and have had contact dermatitis/excema for many years controled with steroid creams up to now-all of a sudden it has flared up for no apparent reason & for the past three months my hands have been so sore & itchy- skin cracked raw & bleeding, even pure water stings! nothing seems to have any effect-have asked to see a skin specialist with a probable 3 months wait - the latest cream prescibed by the DR made things worse! I am taking evening primose oil tablets as advised- this is now really getting me down. CAN ANYONE OFFER ANY HELPFUL ADVICE?

Its not quite as good as the old fashioned Potters sulphur oitment but its been quite good for me. See link

i always try to use cotton type gloves as rubber or latex gloves tend to make my hands sweat which then makes them itch even more-not aware of any allergies but hoping i will be tested when i see the specilist just in case. (hopefully not horses, wine or choc!!) i like the sound of the muslin cloths, porridge & epsom salts- much prefer to use natural remedies wherever possible. Will look out for the creams suggested too. Have just ordered some dead sea magik shampoo which i used on one of my horses to alleviate sweet itch - it worked a treat on her mane & is really meant for humans!
@boxtops: I don't really know the state of things regarding chinese medicine here in the UK at the moment. But, I do know that the Chi Clinic I mentioned works directly with the Chinese government and the Royal Free Hospital in London and only uses the highest quality herbs from government registered and monitored sources in China. They were the first (and may still be the only) UK clinic to get a contract directly with the Chinese Government and to work with NHS doctors / Hospital.
