My 15month old son has chicken pox and is very itchy. We have used calomine lotion and bathing him in oatmeal baths. I used Eurax cream on my older son which helped but it says on the label 3years and over. Has anyone used the cream on their kids that are under 3? Any other tips would be gratefully appreciated.
There is 2 different types of cream I have seen specifically for little ones. I used Vira Soothe for my toddler when he had it. It is sold in chemists which is more expensive but I got mine from the supermarket for about a fiver. Brilliant stuff, really works well and reduces scarring too. I used about 4 of them! Its in a blue box with the medicines.
my 4 month old had piriton for chicken pox, your son is 15 months so is well and truly in the ok to use it zone-just check with a pharmacist first. Advise against using calalmine as it dries the skin more then soothes just use a ordinary baby moisturiser. Mi had it for three months and the only thing that helped was the piriton, it allowed her to get some sleep.
When my grandchildren had chicken pox we used calamine cream on them, this is better than the lotion because it does not dry the skin so much and therefore it does not feel as itchy.
