What is your checklist - things you look for in a partner before you would consider them seriously? I am interested in what the differences are between men's and women's. For example, I asked my Dad this and he said that he thinks the thing that is most important to a woman is having a "reliable husband". Hahah!

1. Honest
2. Loving
3. kind
4. no addictions
5. not an arsenal supporter
6. common interests
7. brave....to take me on...
I don't think I have one. When you begin seeing someone don't you just see how things go and develop... The initial beginnings are usually based on shared interests, humour and mutual physica attraction and as you learn more then the relationship may or may not develop in to something more serious.
Basically CD...that's why a no no list would be easier.
No religion
no halitosis
non smoker
no inhibitions
Big shoulders
Flat tummy
Strong butt
Good legs

And, you know, some personality, that sort of thing.
not that you are superficial or anything.... you forgot big willy
I didn't want to sound too shallow.
Why not at least you were honest...
Well, you can work on the personality stuff, but there has to be something to attract you in the first place.
I don't buy the "attracted to his personality" thing.

If most of us had to choose between Ken Dodd or Brad Pitt ...
They are extremes though.
Yes, I suppose so.

Ah that's very interesting, thank you, apart from the nice chat in the middle. Glad to have got emails notifying me of all of those.
My reason for posting on here was to see whether men or women mentioned physical appearance in their 'checklist'. It's hard to work out whether the usernames are male or female, but from what I can work out, the only people who required 'slim' were men, except for joggerjayne, and she made a joke about the whole personality thing, showing that she understood that it was funny that she only listed physical attributes! When I looked through a dating page in the local paper similarly, practically all the Men Seeking Women wrote that they wanted someone slim. All the women wrote that they wanted someone kind and with a good SOH. Lucky men, is all I can say! And sad for us women who don't look like models :(
chances are we would mostly reject men who were really overweight or ugly though as as Jayne points out you need the initial attraction.... my perfect man turned out to be nothing as expected so you can have all the tick boxes you like
so the reality is that men appear to be quite shallow.
To really hit it off with someone, you have to "click" on an emotional level.

You have to make each other "feel good".

But ... to have the opportunity to find out if that happens, there has to be something to get you talking in the first place.

You have to be physically drawn into each other's space.

There has to be that little reason why you find yourself saying to your pals ...

"Do we need another bottle? I'll go and get another one" ...

... "coincidentally" just at the same moment that the guy on the other side of the room "happens" to be going to the bar.
funny, nice arms, non smoker and someone that won't go though my post
JJ - Loads of people get together with people they already know.
