Geordie I thought but may be wrong?
Thought he was Welsh
Just had to google it - he was born in Wales...phew that's put me out of my misery lol. Well done barb.

i thought his accent was geordieish too!, then i thought welsh then i thought yorkshire!
it's not welsh is it?
Definitely Welsh. I'm pretty sure he started off playing football in Wales and then was signed by Man Utd as a youngster. He also played football for Wales.

I know bobbisox would be horrified at this but I think there is a similarity between the Welsh accent and a Geordie accent. I used to do a bit of acting and when doing the Welsh accent I'd sometimes find myself slipping into Geordie.

the thing is i suppise there are lots of "welsh" accents- put him next to alex and he's not welsh to my ears!
Question Author
ok i think i have worked it out. I have just heard him on FF speaking about gary speed. it IS welsh but that sort of north east wales that's not far from cheshire/liverpool area
Robbie Savage IS Welsh, and as already stated he's from North Wales where we definitely have VERY different accents than our neighbours in the south. Some people are very suprised at the distance that separates North and South Wales. It actually takes us longer to get to Cardiff than it does to get to London. I think North and Mid Wales are definitely more "Welsh" and the accent changes the nearer one gets to Chester/Liverpool.

would you agree north east wales?
the only experience i have with n wales accents is anglesey and its deffo not like that
Definitely. He's from Wrexham - North East Wales. ....and you're quite right ... Anglesey accent is VERY different.
People from Wrexham have a Scouse/Welsh accent.
Yes Sherr they do....as you drive up the North Wales coast, towards England, from Rhyl onwards, you hear the accent changing.
Hi HS, I am for South Wales and went to NEWI in Wrexham for 4 years so really noticed the difference in accent. Then again, the valleys accent is so different to the Cardiff accent or the Swansea one (and both are less than thirty miles from the valleys).
