yesterday I went to a funeral of a friend (slightly younger than me) and she was cremated.
I'm not thinking of popping my clogs anytime soon,I hope, but perhaps I should be thinking of arrangements I need to make in case I die suddenly like my friend and haven't left instructions on how to dispose of my body.
Have you any thoughts on this? Would you prefer to be buried, cremated or would you leave your body to science?
Sorry again for this morbid subject.

My Dad has a double plot for me to be buried with him. I suppose I will leave the final decision down to my children though.

While we're on the subject, can you do anything you want with someone's ashes? Someone at the funeral yesterday said they would like their ashes scattered at sea but I thought you could only do that if you had some connection i.e been in the Navy or something. If you wanted your ashes to be scattered at your football ground can you do that?
//I would like to be stuffed and stood in the corner of the front room...//
Is that before or after demise snags ?

Just as long as they play Gracie Fields singing 'wish me luck as you wave me goodbye' at the end!
How can a decomposing body pollute the woodland? The human body is fully biodegradable, although the skeleton takes a long time to rot but does the earth no harm whatsoever, in fact it is a very good fertiliser.

Cremation uses gas to create the flames, it isn't just a case of setting fire to the corpse with a box of matches!
would think if you wanted ashes scattered at a football ground or similar you would need permission. At sea, just do it.

Thanks Sammy.
you can scatter ashes just about anywhere you like as long as you're discrete about it. we've had to dispose of five lots of ashes, one of which was in the sea, and have never had a problem. just make sure which way the wind's blowing when you do it...
Yes missprim, you can dispose of ashes as you see fit. After my OHs cremation I had lots of mail from councils, churches & undertakers quoting prices for interning/scattering ashes. I ignored all, some ashes are on my property, some in the Thames & some at home awaiting me to join in - my kids have instructions.
I originally planned to be buried on some land I own in an ideal situation- but my little girl thinks I ought to be cremated and turned into a piece of jewellery- so I said I'd leave the final decision to her.
half of my dads ashes were scattered off the Tower Bridge! We always know when he's coming or going, bless him.
I'd like to be fed to the tigers at Chester zoo, but I doubt that's a possiblity, so just whatever's cheapest and easiest, I'd hate to be a burden in any way.
Paul, you don't have to be a burden if you buy into a funeral plan, or just have a savings account for funeral costs.
1st priority? Make sure I'm dead lol
Mr. Cupid and I have left instructions in our wills and also paid for our funerals
in advance, so there is less for our daughter to worry about when the time comes. We also opted for the Co-op because then you get the divvy! Lol!
lol how bizzare pa__ul3, not nice for the assembled mourners though.
You'll certainy be dead after cremation pusskin. No fear of waking from a coma :)

Tamborine what a nice thing to do.If I had someone special in my life it would be nice to mix the ashes together when you have both passed.
You can have your ashes made into jewellery, you know!
am a sentimental twit but I dont carry ashes around with me. Within my OHs ashes container are the kids teeth & locks of their hair he collected, he's not alone :)
