yere i heard if they were stretched out they would go halfway around the world or something equally stupid. maybe somebody got the wrong end of the stick :)

nope. Your veins would stretch around the world, but your intestines are (as I remember about 36 feet long.

We learned in school that they would stretch around a tennis court! Luckily i have never tested that...
