I have severe aching in my ribs when sleeping. I't develops over the time I'm in bed and develops to extreme discomfort when I move or turn over. I have tried changing my bed several times and take glucosamin/chondroytin to strengthen joins and bones. Has anyone else experienced this or do you know what I can do to alleviate the pain.
Could be something like a rib popped a bit out of place - I've had it a couple of times and costochondritis down the front and osteo was great for the former.
About 6 weeks ago I cracked a rib and had the discomfort for a good month. It has left a bit of cartilage forming a lump. Found that changing sides in the bed has helped a bit. Have you any kind of lump in the rib area?
Hi There :) Im having the same problem. Im actually up now at 4 in the morning because of the pain. My doctor believes it is muscular rather than skeletal and advised me to visit the physiotherapist, but due to a mess up with the appointment ive had no advise from them as yet. However I find stretching alleviates the pain. Ideally we should all stretch in the morning to loosen up for the day ahead! And at night time to loosen from the days activities! but im far too lazy for all that!!! Try this stretch that helps me; start with feet shoulders apart, arms by your side, keeping back straight reach down your left leg with your left arm. Its important to maintain controlled breaths during these exercises as it provides oxygen to the muscles :) hold in this position for several breaths, then slowly reverse the action and then repeat for the other side. do this several times very gradually increasing the stretch as i find really stretching at first just hurts too much! but then i do stretch after im woke up by the pain, rather than before i go to bed. try it and let me know how you get on :) take care
