French PC!

I see from the attached article that the French are becoming as PC as we are here!
I am aware that the muslim veil is banned in schools in France, and that the face covering veil is banned completely, but to insist that a bride remove hers is, in my opinion, going a little far. After all, how many 'christian' brides are asked to remove theirs?

//Ms Benahmed said after the ceremony she did it to defend “women’s freedom”. //
What freedom is she talking about? Brides in France wear veils just as brides here do - and they're not all Christian - so why was her wedding any different from the rest? I suspect her face was covered and she was asked to remove the covering, as is the usual practice, before the ceremony began.

I'd have thought the reason behind it was important. With crackdowns on immigration related offences such as sham marriages then maybe they have a general policy that no headwear is allowed rather than leaving it to discretion which could then cause issues for those officiating and lead to arguments over what it and isn't sufficient, not ideal on a wedding day!
Maybe they think one clear policy is the best way to go about it.
