Fruit after a meal

Is it a good idea to eat fruit after a meal? I have always had my lunch at work and finished it off by having some fruit. Recently though, i read that its not a good idea to do this as the fruit creates more sugar...or something. Any ideas?

I had fruit as "pudding" after every meal at home for 18 years til I left for uni.  Fruit is still our pudding at home when I go back.  My parents always reserved fatty sweet cakes and ice cream etc for special occasions.  We're all slim and healthy and doing fine. 

 

But then some smokers live to be 99, so I suppose an example doesn't prove anything!

From what I can remember you should eatfruit first as it digest quicker thanmost other food, so by eating it lastit's gets "stuck" behind the food thattakes longer to digest.This is a distant memory though, so I'm happy to stand corrected.

i hear that fruit is fine after a meal its fruit before thats the problem as it ferments in the stomach as the other food goes on top. P.S sorry about the earlier message my finger slipped.
Eat raw vegetable salads and raw fruits before the main course. This will stimulate and assist digestion and help avoid over-eating of cooked foods. Even fruit should not be eaten after a full meal of other foods.
It seems like the SIZE of the meal is a factor here.  Maybe it's different depending on if it's just "tea" at home with your family, or a full 3-5 course meal in a restaurant.  Either way, I'm still not dead yet!
According to Gillian McKieth(You are what you eat) if you eat fruit after a meal then it will create more gas from the bottom area!
