If you think you are going to get a tummy bug - ie you have a bit of nausea that you think might progress to something worse. Is there anything you can do to ward it off? Im feeling a bit this way, but I have a bit of a phobia about vomit and nausea and wont handle it well.

I take a travel sickness pill and that can help - but not if you've got the bug coming.
If you think you might have a bug, its best no to "feed" it. Eat very small meals and plain food for a couple of days and drink plenty of water and clear fluids. You're much less likley to be sick if you have avoided meat and dairy or heavy rich meals. Have a small sandwich or some soup and bread for example.

If you are sick at least you'll only have a little to bring up. Keep hydrated and take a couple of paracetamol. Hope it doesn't happen!
I felt like this a couple of weeks ago. I felt nauseous in the evening, went to bed then woke around 2 hours later and threw up. Also had diarrohea. Thiis occured two more times during the course of the night. I don't think you can do anything to stop it. Still don't know whether it was food poisoning or the winter vomiting bug. I also have a fear of vomiting :o(
I agree with the post of 2shortplanks.

Wait and see.........jump the hurdle when you come to it.
I eat what I want when I want. If I have an upset stomach I follow the same path.

My mother always had me on dry toast. Blurghh, how was I ever going to feel better eating that?

It is a case of each to their own though.
I too have a sickness phobia - a very bad one, I cry when being sick as I think I'm going to die! You have my utmost sympathy, I have just had this horrid tummy upset which is going around and it lasted for 6 days, but fortunately I only felt very nauseous and wasn't actually sick. It was the diarrhoea which was so awful, I didn't eat for more than 2 days and only had sips of water. Hubby cooked his own tea as the smell of food turned my stomach. I had some flat Lucozade which seemed to help but I also heard that flat lemonade is good too. Dry toast is recommended but I'm not good with bread so I had 2 scrambled eggs on the third day - just on their own, and I enjoyed it. I've lost 5lbs this week and only just getting my appetite back. Just go to bed Mandi - I just wanted sleep and a hot water bottle on my tummy, and slept for nearly 15 hours the second day. Hope you feel better soon ((( hugs)))
Better out than in. If you do vomit everything out your tum settles quicker.
Hear hear brinjal - I hate vomiting, but I always feel better afterwards. Better out than in.
How are you Mandi? Hope it hasn't developed?

I was having waves of nausea and feeling clammy with my heart racing. I really did think I was coming down with a bug, specially as my colleague was off on Friday with a bug. But very, very happy to say that nothing did develop any further.

Im taking my drugs for IVF at the moment and I think I must be suffering some side effects of that. I did not put 2 and 2 together at first, because I had no symptoms whatsoever last time round.

Feeling much, much better today though, thanks.
