question for the ladys??

how many of you could live with someone .knowing they had commited a dreadfull crime including murder..and not tell the police? would you just push it to the back of your mind because you loved the person ? would you just think its one of those things its happened and lets get over it?? i personally would have to tell the police because i believe it could be me next to be murdered..and love would not come into it as any love i had for them would die..also trust would be an issue with me and i would not feel comfortable..i am not a goody goody i just could not shelter someone ..i also feel the same about wife beaters i wouldnt stand for that either they would only do it once and they would be out..what do others think??

I feel I must comment on the Peter Sutcliffe answers. There are times he must have been drenched in blood and goodness knows what else. His wife must have done his washing or noticed half his wardrobe vanishing if he got rid of his clothes?

i am now laughing big style i am not harbouring anyone..the question came to my head because of the arrests of those women harbouring men in the case of the mary anne murder..after the men involved treated us ladys or in that case mary anne and friend i would tell the truth as it could be me next..it just got me thinking how many of us would tell lies to protect a man in those circumsstances..?? well how many of you would??
thikasabrik - I understand what you mean about the clothes issue with Peter Sutcliffe & his wife, but there are ways and means of getting around that one.....
A very close relative was recently 'dumped' by her partner after 4 years. She had trusted this 'wonderful' man implicitly & would never had believed anyone who tried to tell her he was a lying, cheating, using scum bag behind her back. She has since found out, that he'd been carrying on with another woman living only a mile up the road for the past two years.
Since he left, she has found numerous bags of 'stuff' hidden in the back of a rarely used shed. Inside were hundreds of porno mag's, steroid files, unpaid bills & letters chasing him for thousands of pounds of debts. She had absolutely no idea of his 'double life' or his debts - so it does makes you think.
Hence my comments: other ways & means of getting round things!
I don't know what the detection rate was/ is for the 850- odd recorded murders in the U.K. for the year ending in March 2004, or for the over 1000 for the previous year but there stands a good chance that there's an awlful lot of relatives and friends of the murderers out there harbouring the awful knowledge and not reporting it for one reason or another. Possibly the hardest ordeal would be for a mother to shop a beloved son or daughter.
