Pregnancy testing

Hi everyone. I did a pregnancy test a day before my period was due and it was negative. I am now 4 days late and am thinking about testing again today. Is it possible that taking the test before my period was due was too early to show positive and that taking it today may have a different result? We have been trying for 4 months. Thanks x

four days late isnt a big deal, especially if you have been stressing or getting anxious about this, give it a few more days or at least until the end of your first week, then try again. (or if you really cant wait that long of course have a go)

a lot of pregnancy tests these days do claim that they can detect pregnancy even before your period is due, but that doesn't mean they will, just that it's possible.  These tests cannot give a false positive, but you can get an incorrect negative, usually due to pregnancy being in the very, very early stages, and hormone levels are so low they may not be detected.  I'll bet you're dying to know....I'd probably do another one now, just to find out.    Fingers crossed, and all the best! xx

Also, if you do the test -- use your first "pee" of the morning.  It is the most concentrated then and will detect the pregnancy hormones at their most accurate level.

I don't wish to get your hopes up unduly (although as you're trying - I really hope you are pregnant if that's what you want!!) but my friend gave birth last week - and the first pregnancy test she did (when she was well over two months gone) came back negative.  It seems that just like the pill, or like condoms, they are only 99% useful!  Good luck for the trying, the pregancy, the birth and parenthood! :-)

Thank you all for your answers. I tested yesterday and it was negative again then period arrived this morning. So will have to keep on trying xxx
