I smoked for over 20 years. I went from smoking 50 a day to quitting within a week. The advisor told me to keep smoking for a week after starting but by about day three, cigarettes tasted disgusting and i kept stubbing them out after one puff. When i quit at end of week it was more of a relief than an effort. And that was 4 years ago now.
I haven't tried it yet - but have it here at the ready for when i'm feeling up for it. the side effects of feeling down put me off a bit when i got them as i wasn't in the best frame of mind at the time so decided to wait until i felt better and more determined. best of luck to you and please keep us posted as to how you get on!! xxxx good for you xxx
Mr mac took them about 4 years ago and has been off the cigs ever since. I took them a few months later but i never did manage to quit. I think a lot depends on your mindset. He really wanted to quit and had a lot of health problems. I just felt guilty that i hadn't quit and he had, but i didn't really want to. Good luck with them. Watch out for the dodgy tum though. :)
My dad as well as my friends dad have both successfully taken them and succeeded so far! My dad hasn't had a cigarette in three months and has been off the tablets for 2 weeks now with no cravings, he did eat everything and anything about though so put on a little weight, my friends dad however was just tired all the time while taking the tablets and working evenings he found it hard so finished taking the tablets earlier than was supposed to but still succeeded!

I read a few scare stories at the time about the side effects of champix and asked my doctor about them. He casually replied that smoking has some side effects too. Like a 1 in 2 chance that it will kill you! That put my fears in perspective.
Thanks Pikey boy! Today at lunch break Iwould have had about have three cigs, but only had one! went to visit my mum who smokes, and I only had two, which is a record for me!
Day three tomorrow!
Hey, I used champix 6 months ago and I am still not smoking !! I only took it for 8 weeks however and halfed my dose to 0.5 mg per day as i was getting quite bad headaches, there is a lot of bad press about champix and i would just say if you are feeling at all depressed when taking the tablets stop immediately ! Hope this helps Paul
