Something inside me went pop!!

I was carrying a fairly large box today, not very heavy and very manageable, as I leaned down to place the box on the floor I felt a sudden pain and a "pop" sensation as though some thing actually broke.

The area is just below my right ribs towards the sternum, it isn't particularly painful just feels more bruised than anything. I dont need to see the GP as no significant pain, im just curious as to what may have happened.

Any ideas.

OH had that after lifting, a while back, but his was painful when he breathed, he'd popped an intercostal muscle. You might ache in the morning.

Go and see your GP and explain what happened

No pain when breathing, I think it may be the intercostal thing but maybe a minor tear, im not going to start worrying just yet, will see how it is in the morning. Thanks for your input and advice :) I will let you know how it is tomorrow.

It isnt any worse today so I think it was just a small tear, I would not go to GP for something so trivial. Like I said, I was more curious as to what happened really.

I tore my gastrocnemius a few years back. I was walking to work and heard a loud bang and a horrendous pain. I thought that I had been shot.

It was agony for weeks - you have my sympathy ratter.
