Do You Have Any Advise On Belly Button piercings?

Hi, I'm 15, and i've wanted my belly button pierced for a while now, and i really have got my heart set on having it done, but i'm still scared about infections and scars. My dad doesn't really like the sound of piercings but he dont mind this so much as you cant see it that much. I just wondered if anyone has any advise on the subject?

Go to a reputable piercer - and follow their cleaning instructions very carefully and you should be ok.  You'll be fine and it's not as bad as a tattoo - when you get fed up with it you can remove it.  Good luck.

Errrrm - don't get it done in the first place ! I suppose at least it's not as bad as an eyebrow or lip.

I have a belly button piercing and I've had it for about 7 years now.  I like them and think they look good....although, you do have to be 18 to have it done.  Most professional places will ask for ID.

But if you do have it done, zinc tablets are meant to help and clean it with salt water.

Thanks :) There's a place i know where lots of my friends have had it done under the age of 18, but you have to have a parent with you and sign a few papers and stuff..thanks for the advise..

hey, I know you're not thining about it right now, but I got my belly pierced about 2 years ago and it immediately got infected and grew out 3 weeks later so did 2 of my friends who got it done at different places, hence we were left with a small scar. HOWEVER a year ago I fell pregnant and let me tell you, that scar stretched so bad and left an even worse appearance. Think about the long run baby!!!!

I have mine done - I love it! Just do what the piercer says about not changing it and keeping it clean - salt water in an egg cup held over it twice a day will aid the healing process. It will take a while to heal fully, and its really important you dont try to change it, as it will probably really hurt. Make sure you go to a piercer who uses a needle to do it, and that they have all the correct documentation. As for the scar, I'm sure if I took mine out and left it to heal, the scar would be miniscule. Not planning on doing so though! Good luck!!!

Hummm I have mixed feeling about this now :( I really want it done, but as for the pain, scarring and infections, i do not think i'm going to go ahead with this idea of having my belly button pierced..

I did want my eyebrow pierced but my dad's first words were...NO !! lol, so of course i have not carried out that piercing, tho, i would really love to have that done and i have no doubts about it..but my boyfriend and friends said its a bad idea, and that gals dont look right with eyebrow piercings tho i've seen lots of gals with it done and they look really nice.. *sighs*

NO GET UR BELLY PEIRCED! I got mine when i was 13! I went with my big sister. It wasn't sore as the guy doing it was really nice and saw how scared I was so put on extra 'freeze spray' Thats the only thing that stings a WEE bit. the man doing it for me warned me that it would me quite sore but I still didn't think it was that bad! You don't feel any sharp pain from the needle! It heels quickly if you clean it well. I used savlon antiseptic wound wash and it's been great!

I love my belly peircing and so glad I got it done. If i want it out when Im older then I can easily just close it up!

i got my belly pierced two weks ago and there is a web site that can help you on keeping you piercing helathy and not infected and it will scare a little but not that bad, its all up to you and how you keep it clean.... why do you want to get your belly done so bad i mean i was just like you and everyting but i waited to get mine done and now that im 19teen and everything but would you like to knw how they do the piercing?
