A healthy tongue?

What does it look like? should there be a kind of furry/yogurty looking coating on the back half of it or should it be completley clean sa as  you can see the surface color of it all they way back?

It should be completely clean and pink all the way back. The furry coating includes a build up of faeces (bacterias faeces), and that is why it smells. Also the gases emited by the bacteria smells too as does other animal and human emiters. Brushing the back of the tongue every time you do your teeth is what works and many of us did not purchase any extra tools to do it. If at first you gag, don't go quite as far back. then gradually work back further as you get used to it.
If one also have a cracked tongue, looking like the Grand Canyon, it means the holder  probably has a Vit B deficiency. I had one years ago and now have a smooth pink, clean, free of cracks tongue.
