Hi there, I am 4 months pregnant with my second baby, which I am delighted about. I have been eating fairly sensible, but seem to of put on an awful lot of weight on my hips thighs and bottom, I know that I am going to put on weight but did not expect to put on this much (a stone already!) I just feel horrible at the mo. Any one know why some women (like me) pile on the pounds every where else and others are just purely all baby?

I just wanted to post a message that might reassure you (of course it might not!). I'm a couple of days past my due date of my first baby and I also put on weight VERY quickly to start with. You see all the guidelines that say in the first few months you should only put on 5Lbs maximum or whatever but I was starving all the time and probably put on about the same as you if not more.

What I found was that over time it balanced out until I was spot on for the recommended weight gain so perhaps your body will do the same and slow down. I had visions of putting on about 5 stone but it's not as bad as all that.

What I'm trying to say is don't worry about what they say about how much you should or shouldn't put on, everyone is different. Like everyone said to me, try and enjoy the pregnancy and focus on a healthy baby more than anything else. When your bump gets bigger everything else looks smaller anyway ;-) Good luck!

Well, the extra fat is to make the cream on the milk! Feed it to your baby, it will grow & you will shrink, just as Mother Nature designed it.

Good luck with your pregnancy.

I weighed about 9.5 stone before I got pregnant the first time.  Piled the weight on (despite eating really healthily - apart from chocolate!) and by week 37, I weighed approx 14 stone!!!!!!!!!!   I was huge.  Baby only weighed 8lb 5.5oz (a week early), so a lot of that was me!!   By the time he was 15mnths old, I was back to less than my pre baby weight, with no dieting, exercising or worry.

Give in to your body, go with the flow, enjoy your pregnancy and don't worry for a second about the weight.  Take care adn all the best.
