Is it ok to have ultrasound treatment a few days after having a cortisone injection? My mum has a frozen shoulder and had the injection yesterday. She had ultrasound treatment on her leg a couple of years ago and it really helped with pain so was just wondering if she could have it on the shoulder so soon after being injected.

Ultrasound is just an echo that bounces back from a solid object (eg bone) to form an image. I can`t see how cortisone treatment would make any difference to be honest. I`m not an expert and Sqad might elaborate but that`s just my opinion (for what it`s worth).
I'm not an expert either but why not wait to see if the injection has worked? i was in agony for months with a shoulder injury but a cortisone injection miraculously cured it but it took 48 hours for the pain to disappear. As an aside while I was waiting for the GP to finally agree to the injection, which took him weeks, I had ultrasound through work and it had no effect whatsoever.
Sorry, I didn`t make myself very clear. I meant to say that I can`t see why having a cortisone injection would make any difference to an ultrasound image.
Can I just add, that my doctor gave me cortisone injections in my shoulder in the 60's, but a doctor in later years advised me against it, saying that it can cause " infections" don't really know what he meant, but apparantly the injection is just a cushion of fluid, and I, as a layman, cannot see any reason why it would affect an ultra sound, you can see a baby through all the protective fluid in the womb, so a drop of fluid should not make any difference, but, I am a telephone engineer, not a medical man. Sqad will give the correct answer. i am sure.

Thanks for your reply 237SJ but i don't mean ultrasound as in an image (she had that done the other day), i mean ultrasound treatment. It is used for pain in tendons, ligaments etc
Perfectly fine.............
