I tripped over my own feet last Friday and landed up on my hands and knees! Having had several ops on said knees over the years, there is a fair bit of scar tissue around the area. I applied ice to the knees asap (about 30 mins after falling) and the bruises duly appeared the following day. They are now a nice yellowy colour but the front of the left knee is still very sore and 'shiny', feels tight and is quite sore. I can flex the joint without a problem but it doesn't feel right?!? Any one any ideas?

six days ago.......it does sounds as though there is an effusion from the joint (fluid). This should settle given another week, but in the meantime keep exercising the knee as usual.

Update.... yesterday lower leg started swelling and knee felt even tighter and even more painful. Went to the local NHS Minor Injuries Centre this morning and apparently it (the knee) is infected so I now have a bagful of antibiotics to take. Will let you know how I progress.
