well my daughter has come home with the best report i've ever read!
So, i have to keep my promise and take her to have her ears pierced at weekend.
Would you say a piercer/tattoo place, or claires?

absolutely definitely do not go to claires or any other chain store that offer 'professional ear piercing!' You see, places like Claires use a piercing gun, the type similarly used to pierce cattle, they are not designed, nor or they suitable to be used to pierce humans. There are three main problems with using piercing guns, the first, because they have...

Or, as I did abut 34 years ago, a nappy pin and an ice cube?
I had mine done at the chemist.
Claires are good. That's where I got mine done :-)

The seat is always in the window though. She might be put off by that.
Claires is where loads go...id be tempted to say a good tattoo place though xxx
I'd be more inclined to ask who the forger was.
My daughter had hers done in a beauty salon, come to think of it so did I
you could see if any salons near you do ear piercing, wasn't expensive if I remember rightly
Claires ??
Claire's Accessories... It's a shop.
Like Duncer about 40 yrs ago, I used to hang about couple if times a month with a bunch of lads who worked on the fishing boats out of Brid and one of them did the job with darning needle and ice cube and I think a shilling for a sleeper from one of local souvenir shops.
Claires, two of my daughters had their ears pierced there and one of them went on to work there and was taught how to pierce ears. They are not let loose on the public until they are confident they know what they are doing.
In my local claires they use piercing guns which i wouldnt recommended, i'd check out your local tattoo shops or if you have a piercing place in town, or like a few other people have said beauty salons, i had my 3rd holes in ym ears done with a gun and they were at a funny angle, just speaking from experience. hope it helps

well that's what i was thinking, i have a 'funny angle' one too! Mine were done with a gun too. I'm still none the wiser really - it seems 50-50!
I went to a jeweller.
Why not just go to a piercer, that's what they do!
I am sure Claire's would be fine. They must do plenty of them so must have good experience. I would check closely that you are happy with the position of them. A friend did my daughter's and they are a little lop sided. The aftercare you give at home is probably more important. Bathe with surgical spirit 2-3 times a day for several weeks.
As long as they pay attention to Hygiene, Claire's should be fine.
tattoo/piercer place every time. the people in clairs recieve no training in what they do and tattoo/piercers will have done hundreds (sometimes in very dificult places. never, ever go somewhere where they have a gun....it's unhygienic - do you really trust someone in a shop like that to maintain strict hygiene and a professional knowledge of piercing? i took my son to my local tattoo parlour (where i've had tattoos) and it was perfect - painless, over in a minute and a lot of information about cleansing and general health.
I had mine done in a hair salon lol
I would go for a dedicated piercing studio over a tattooists. All that machinery could be off putting for her - I don't know how old she is
I had my nose done in a piercing studio and there were no tattooing noises and it was all very calm
Not sure if a gun is still used on ears. They used to use guns on noses (haha rhyme there) but they don't any more as it creates a dry hole
I would definitely not use Claire's - I don't like the idea of sitting in the shop window having it done and all those people walking by watching
I got my ears done in a hair salon and the gun.
Subsequent ones were a needle and ice-cube.
Son got his done in tattoo shop. Excellent after-care advice.
Im sure claires is ok...but people might stand and gawp! Un nerve her...especially if she gets a wee fright or a bit teary after the first ear!!

I just am inclined to say the peircing or tattoists, i thnk they would be more regulated....and cleaner...xx
