Pains in groin...

my boyfriend gets pains down his right side...from the kidney/liver region down through his groin round his legs to his toes...the joints of his right side ache too....and he 'clicks' his knee to eliviate the pain...what on earth could this be? Could it be alcohol related?

I would advise he get himself off to his doctor pronto.
He definitely needs a diagnosis bex.   It may be associated with an organ but it could also be a back problem. The pain from having  pressure on a nerve is severe and can travel far.  You would need to know if the vertabrae is out of alignment because of a cartilage problem, a bone problem or inflamed muscle. if it is an organ he needs  help fast.
sounds odd... yes, it could well be a spine problem as artee suggests; lots of nerves go through the spine, and misalignment there can cause pains in all sorts of odd places. Osteopath or chiropractor might be able to help.
May be a slipped disc pressing on the sciatic nerve,  this nerve runs from the back to the ankle and that is why the pain may be right down your boyfriends leg, but he must go to the Doctor for a proper diagnosis
