Partner is 46. She's had a pain in her lower shoulder blade for several months. She's a smoker...no more than 4-5 roll ups a day. She's had a cough for 2 weeks. She says she feels like there's something in her shoulder that she cant get rid of.

She went to drs, they've ordered a full chest, shoulder and body scan and x-ray.

Im bloody worried sick. Her parents both died young...mum of breast, dad of lung cancer so we're obviously both bricking it.

No other symptoms...no weight loss, no tiredness, even the cough's improving.

Please passify me :-(

Hammer - stop worrying about possibilities. Start worrying when you have something solid to worry about. Think positive, not negative. I have spent half my life worrying about things which never happened. Time I could have spent on enjoying life while it was there.

I wish i could, only advice is let the doctors do their work, only one doctor on this site that i am aware of, and that is sqad, and he may not be on here this evening. How soon before you get the results back?

if the cough is improving, going on some experience i would say that is good, so as star says be positive, even if you don't feel it.
As em says, you may not feel it but try and show positivity for your partner's sake.

Thanks guys...im remaining positive for my partner but she's not stupid. Just a matter of waiting for the scans now. Awful time. xxx
Shoulder pain is an extremely common complaint Hammerman, and there are many, many causes, including frozen shoulder, tendonitis, dislocation, all sorts.

The cough could be a regular innocent cough, a virus or a slight chest infection.

I'm pleased OH has been offered scans and xrays, you'll know more soon, The waiting is worrying but try as hard as you can not to jump to conclusions.

^^ its worth re-reading the original post Bill......
Whens the scans then humber?

Best wishes...agree with starby try not to worry xxx
You can get shoulderblade pain from a number of quite innocuous (comparatively) sources. Some can be referred pain - I had really bad shoulderblade pain when I had gallstones and I get it with my fibromyalgia too, moreso if I am not careful about my posture and things like making sure I carry a bag more evenly so it isn't pulling on one shoulder.

Hope the scan goes well, let us know.
Age 45, smoker, persistent cough for 2 weeks, pain in the shoulder blade, family history of malignancy...............you and your partner are no fools.

I cannot "pacify you."

The investigations are imperative and only their negative results will have the required effect that you are seeking.
Noticed i called you humber instead of hammer! Sorry!

Hope alls well- do let us know xx

Bill... you clearly have not read the post very well or you would realise that the post is not about him, but his partner.

he is also not making any excuses at all - where do you see excuses here?

he is simply asking people if they have any thoughts and hoping that someone has had a similar experience that has turned out to be nothing serious.
