When I had mine Sammy, teenage son brought his new girlfriend to visit. He said afterwards it was embarrassing to pass all the lockers with Lucozade etc and end up at the one that had 12 bottles of Guinness on it.

I had mine ten years ago now ...doesn't time fly.
I had to have the worst kind of op...cut from stem to stern up and down the way...cannot remember what they call it. Anyway, I was off work for 4 months then went back half time for a month. To be honest I wished that I had had another month off as I felt so washed out by it. (By no means a physical job.)
As everyone else has said, everybody is different, take your time and listen to your body. (And do not be phased by these lucky people who got back to work the next day or whatever they say.)
Only you know how you feel and what you feel up to.
Try to walk abut a wee bit more each day, but gently gently.
Good luck. It will come right in the end, but it is a big procedure.

Sammy - I had my hysterectomy about 15 years ago now; I came out of hospital fine and was making good progress, then the meds they gave me (Co-Dydramol) gave me constipation (nobody warned me) and I ended up in A & E. That set me back and it took about 4 months after that to get right again.
After that I did voluntary telephone counselling for The Womens Health Organisation - I took calls from all over the country and nearly every caller felt depressed because they were told '6 weeks and you will be right as rain' - this is never the case, some lucky ones do feel well quickly, but most women take longer. Its not just the physical aspect of the operation is the mental and hormone side to it aswell.
Take care you will be fine and dandy very soon.

Just to let all those who gave answers know, I have been given the all clear after my 6 week check up, though still not up to speed with energy, starting to feel a little better. Have been offered HRT but have refused it for the time being. Have come back to stay with my cousin, she is a great nurse lol and we have good laughs together. Sam xxx
