Use clear nail polish on bites that itch but haven't been scratched raw to the point of bleeding. Additionally, as soon as possible after being bit, wet a common, plain aspirin tablet with a little water and rub gently on the bite. To prevent the bites in the first place, wet a clothes dryer sheet (any brand) with just a little water and rub it on exposed skin... work's like a charm...
Itchy areas need coldness for relief and one sure way to get this is to apply peppermint oil. It makes the spot cold for ages, and they clear up quickly. Don't make the mistake of smearing it all over the good skin as well as it will make you feel really cold....Also if you had a homeopathic remedy for bites on hand all the time, this takes the effects of a bite away immediately.
