I've been having right sided chest pain for about three months now. I have a trapped nerve in my neck do I think it may be related. If I sit in certain positions, such as leaning back, I get a click inside my chest (right), it's like something locks and it's the most horrific pain I've ever felt. I have to adjust position immediately for it to go away. This happens regularly. I am a smoker. I feel as though something is growing in my lung (maybe paranoia). I've also started getting pins and needles in my legs whenever I use the toilet. Is it serious? I did go to my dr about my trapped nerve and they told me to comeback in a few weeks if it hadn't gone but I've had it for 8 years so felt as though the dr should have realised it wasn't going away on its own.

Well it certainly doesn' t sound like a heart problem or indeed a lung disorder.......certainly not cancer or pleurisy.

My bet is that it is a costochondral problem......a muscular and cartilaginous disorder.....no big deal and it should be relieved by NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen

I know, I'll make an appointment on Monday. I did try to google it (stupid idea) but there's nothing about the clicking feeling at all.
I hoped maybe somebody here might be able to offer an explanation.
I had a trapped nerve in my shoulder and neck on the left side and every time I got a pain there I used to think it was something terrible I went to see an osteopath and he recommended a massage and I had one yesterday and it feels a heck of a lot better
When you get the clicking pain, is it so bad that you can`t breathe because when you do, it`s as if someone is sticking a knife into your lung? You end up breathing really shallow because you get the pain when you breath deeply. I`ve had that all my life but I get the click when it clears.

It's like being stabbed with a knife through my back to the front of my chest usually when I've exhaled

Thanks gordle I do think it's related to my trapped nerve. I suppose I need to get back to the dr!
The signs and symptoms sound like something my hubby has had. Don't know about the pins and needles though, that could be related to the trapped nerve. However, hubby is a smoker and doc did chest xray and was diagnosed with the following. He gets it a couple of times a year and has been treated successfully.

Hope you are feeling better really soon and that your appointment goes well!

souns more like a trapped nerve or twisted rib (I say twisted, it only needs a millimetre). I'd be looking for an osteopath.

Do not take anything. Go to the doctors. Do not let them palm you off with come back in a few weeks/days/years. Insist on a consultation. Goodluck
you've had a problem that worries you for three months now - what is the problem with going to your GP?
