I was lying flat in bed and I got all this stomach acid come up into my throat and now my throat feels like it is on fire. I am wondering if I need to go to causalty can this be serious for the throat or am I panicing here. Ive taken some gaviscon no more acid but it feels like Ive damaged my throat or my windpipe im worried it may close up.
Sounds like acid reflux. A friend of mine gets that when she`s really stressed. You could Google it and find out ways to manage it and failing that, see your GP.
If your stomach acid is going to come up then it is certainly going to give you a burning feeling in your orsophagus. Most of the the time, it`s nothing to worry about. If that was happening to me, I would keep a glass of milk next to my bed tonight and sip it as and when needed.
the end of a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a small glass of water. Drink it straight down like a shot. it doesn't taste very nice but it does work!
I get acid reflux and I've found that by leaving about three hours between your last meal and bed time gives your stomach time to digest the food and so disperse the acid. Drinking half a glass of water before getting into bed also dilutes any remaining acid.
Gaviscon is good but I use Tesco's Heartburn and Indigestion liquid which is a similar formula but cheaper.
Also try raising the bed head a few inches on blocks so that the acid cannot flow uphill when you are laid down
