Hi there for the last 3/4 hours I have had chest pain just above my sternum. I am burping a lot and I have been leaning over the computer and bending over a lot. I am quite sweaty but the house is very hot. I have taken omerprazole gaviscon paracetemol but still this pain keeps coming. I can put my finger on it. I had an endoscopy 3 years ago and they said I had a hiatus hernia and inflamed oesophagus but now I keep thinking what if this is a heart attack.?? I also have been eating a lot of chocolate today could this have brought it on. My heart rate is normal I dont know whether to go to a &e

No expert but it sounds more of a digestive issue than the pain of a heart attack to me. They do say if worried get it checked. But I never do as I'd be there too regularly. But your decision. I suspect getting stressed out is not helping you.
\\Just above your sternum\\ is your neck...is that where you mean or do you mean OVER your sternum?

Is the pain there the whole time or does it come and go?

Is the pain relieved by the omeprazole and/or gaviscon?

Be specific in your answers.
If in doubt go to hospital immediately.
If it is indigestion, the doctors will not look at you as a time waster or nuisance, I'm sure they get it all the time. Better safe than sorry x
I get similar pains and I've tried everything and nothing works. Gaviscon and ant-acids are useless in my case. Someone suggested drinking loads of milk, so I did and it took the edge off the pain quite a bit. Can't stand milk on its own so I had hot chocolate and it was still effective.
Do you have any bottom wind, diahorrea? I used to have serious heartburn until I was diagnosed coeliac and went gluten free. It disappeared.
Eating a lot of chocolate may have something to do with your discomfort, whenever I eat it I get a prolonged spell of hiccups.
As we've not heard from the OP for 18hrs.........??
