My granddaughter was born with three kidneys....two had to be removed when she was a baby.
My daughter, not her mother, has been a bit unwell and tests today show she has three kidneys.. two normal size and one about half.
Is this very common and will the three kidneys be plumbed in and working? I'm just curious, though it may have been useful when OH was on the transplant list.....she'd have given him a discount, I'm sure, :-)

Acute bowel obstruction in a 7 month old baby needs policy of "getting in, doing what is necessary and getting out" ...not the time for rooting around. The kidneys of a baby may only be half a centimetre at most and would have been impossible to see, by chance, unless you were looking.
As far as OH was concerned, a transplant from your daughter, if that is what you were thinking "may" have been an option, but in that case there would have been other variants to consider.
