Pulse In Ear

As above really, I have tinnitus and cope with that okay but this is louder and overbearing. It is constant now and getting me down. If I massage behind my ear it subsides for a while. Any ideas what it is ? Did I ought to see my GP?

A big question with a lot of questions that need answering,

Is this tinnitus in one ear or bot and have you seen an ENT specialist?

If you have tinnitus in one ear, are you deaf in that ear.

Is this "pulsation" ..a new phenomenon?

I have tinnitus in both ears on and off but this pulsating has just been the past month , in one ear, my left . The only change in anything has been my mtx, I inject now instead of taking them orally. I have never seen an ENT specialist.

As far as the tinnitus is concerned it may well be due to the onset of the ageing process and of course Methotraxate may well have instigated the onset of your tinnitus and if it came on before taking the drug, then the MTX may well make it worse.

It would seem that you are dealing with the tinnitus, but the pulse is a new symptom. You do not say whether the pulsation is in one ear or in both, but in my opinion this is due to the flow of a blood vessel in the middle ear and is of no threat to life or limb.

Personally I would not got to see you GP at this juncture.....monitor the pulsation for about six weeks and then, if there is no improvement, seek medical help.

It's interesting to me, because I don't have hearing problems, but when I get overtired, the pulse in my left ear starts to throb and throb. No idea why, but it's always a good sign to me that I need to sleep.
