Most boiled sweets contain little, if any, saturated fat, so they shouldn't have any great effect on cholesterol levels. Just try to any avoid sweets which might be made with butter.

Likely to raise your blood sugar......but not cholesterol.......
The answer is yes - most sweets contain glucose-fructose syrup and the fructose is metabolised in the liver to cholesterol. You don't get raised cholesterol by eating fat - think of the Inuit who eat blubber but don't get heart attacks until they eat the stuff the Americans eat. Fructose in quantity is really bad for you - we can deal with the small amount in fruit.
