After being ill (virus) is it normal to have lower back pain? Always seems to happen after being sick and not sure if it is muscular or something else....

Dehydration, which can result from a bout of gastroenteritis, can sometimes lead to kidney pains. (Well it does with me, anyway!). Are you sure that you're getting enough fluids? (A good clue is the colour of your urine; if it's not colourless, you're likely to be dehydrated).

You may have pulled a muscle whilst retching.
I always feel like a horse has kicked me amidships after that kind of illness.

Just ffels muscular but also 'not right'...terrible virus :(
I suspect as mosaic says, you've pulled a muscle. I've got a bad cough at the moment and my chest muscles are really sore. Not the same, but the same sort of thing.

Ahhhh. That really makes sense! Thanks for that. Really good answer!
Its normal, I had the same thing a few Christmases ago, also my ribs were bleeding agony. I hope that you feel much better soon and unlike myself didn't end up in A&E immediate care
