Further to the (not) Chickenpox saga, am still spotty and itchy. They are read and quite warm to touch.

No more blisters on them but they seem more an irritated red and ones nearby seems to be splodging together.

Antihistamines don't seem to have done anything (or the antibiotics or antivirals I had in hospital - think it was antibiotics first, injected in via the canula thing then an antiviral drip then tablets).

With them being so irritated I don't want to irritate them more. If anyone has any ideas how to calm them down that'd be good. I'm loathe to try something harsh like steroid cream in case it makes it worse. Am being good and not scratching.

White cell count been up though spoke to rhumo nurse earlier and she said ok to restart methotrexate from Friday.

what about calamine lotion?
also, what anti-histamine are you on?
I probably would try the steroid cream. It`s not harsh as it`s only 1% hydrocortisone. I might try it on a small patch of the rash (providing the skin`s not broken) and see how it reacts.
I stick Sudocrem on most things.

I've tried piriton which was what they tried in hospital to try and help the irritation.

Picked up some loratadine earlier to see if a different one helps.

I think I have some steroid cream somewhere, will go seek and see if I can work out how old it is and could try it on a couple of spots and see if it helps.

Think it might be calamine lotion shopping for me tomorrow if it continues! Trying to avoid more germs back at work - got people still going off with sickness bugs and lots of colds about...might buy a surgical mask too ;)

Ahh, I think I have a baby tub of sudacream somewhere, think it's in a bag upstairs!
I used to get a blister covered type of eczema on my fingers. I was given the 1% hydrocortisone which cleared it up quickly and I had no side effects.
i too think sudocreme is fabby plus it's anti bacterial, which is good if you get an infection because they are open or if you do naughtily have a little scratch

Ok, had a hunt. Can't find the sudocream but found some canestan which has hydrocortisone in and some eumovate. Thought I had some steroid cream but it's E45 anti itch cream (ah ha!) so that's worth a try too.

Will try the canesten (worth a try!) and see if I can hunt down the sudocream.
Hi this is an old fashioned remedy for people with eczema and as a granny of two children with severe eczema it works and also for people with very dry itchy skin. Get an old dry sock, fill the sole with PURE porridge oats, tie the sock and place under taps running into the bath. The water will turn creamy, lie in bath until water cools, get out of bath and tap your body dry, DO NOT RUB DRY. Put on a towelling bath robe and let solution dry into body, try this every other night and you will find your skin will feel better.
the e45 anto itch probably is steroid cream
dab salt water on itch, pat dry & dust with athletes foot powder
