Q1) Patient requires 750mgs of Cefuroxime IV ( intravenious via cannula)
a) What fluid would you reconstitute it in?
b) What volume of fluid would this be?
when Ive looked in BNF for cefuroxime (via index at back of book) I went straight to the page number and it tells us all the usual stuff( indications, cautions, Dose, by IV injection but it doesnt answer question a) or b). Is there another section in the BNF that I should be looking at.
thankyou!!

This is usually in the leaflet with the drug.
This is the advice for one brand, Zinacef - scroll down to Table 3 and you will see that sterile water for injection is used.
"Preparation of Solution and Suspension"

BUT different brands may have different recommendations, and you would have to know which preparation you were using.
