Period or pregnancy?

My wife and I are trying to have children for the first time.  However, she has recieved her period as normal this month as usual. 

 

The thing is, she is having frequent sickness bouts when she very rarely gets sick.  For the past 2 or 3 days she has been lightly sick.  She has been sick prior to this as well, but not so frequent.

 

Is it possible that she is pregnenat when it seems as though her period is as normal.

She needs to do a test. My midwife friend informed me that you only ever get an INCORRECT negative reading. A positive reading is always right. Incidentally she says that the reason some women give birth without realising they're pregnant is that they have normal periods throughout. Good luck. If your wife's not pregnant this time it's early days. We all want perfect children and 'practice makes perfect'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had 6 pregnancies and throughout all of them I had some bleeding. The first however I had periods for the first 5 months and did not know I was pregnant for 20 weeks!!!

A test would put your mind at ease one way or another.

If you are trying for a baby it is important that your wife takes folic acid. Until she conceives and for at least the first 3 months of her pregnancy.

Wow!!  Well, I guess we shall take a test then to put our mind at ease.  Many thanks for your replies and we shall let you know what happens.

By the way Cheekyteddy, when you were having your period on your first pregnancy, was it as if you were having a normal period or was it light bleeding?

One other thing....is it normal or common to have periods whilst pregnant?

Can you take a pregnancy test whilst having a period?

Yes I presume the same hormones will be there if you are pregnant.

There is a test on the market now (sorry can't remember the name) which says you can test before your period is late so maybe that would be a good one. Keep us informed

Hey guys.

Thanks for all your help.  It turns out that my wife is not pregnant.  We took a test today and it turned out negateive.  It is worrying how she is sick every day now though.  It only happens for a short time, but she gets sick at least once a day now.

Anyway, we shall cross our fingers for this month.
