When queenofmean had chicken pox, I used lavender oil on the spots, it took away the itch and the whole house smelled of lavender. I found it more effective than camomile lotion

not really
Thick pair of gloves to stop it scratching the affected area/ duck tape it to hard/level surface, if that's not against child welfare police. :)
How many of the others have had it? You might just be home with all 5. Keep them away from the elderly and pregnant.
Do they know many elderly pregnant people though, sherradk? I'd have thought the odds of that are smaller than thing3 :)

Can you still get those wee cotton mitts to stop scratching ? I remember we had to wear them...

Boy #1 has had it and himself. Myself and the other little peeps haven't had it. Probably infected half the village as they have been to two parties this weekend and they have been to school today. Feel v sorry for him as it's his birthday tomorrow.
Do you mean calamine lotion? That's what stops itching.

That's what I meant - got some in cream form now.
a friend of mine said she used Chlorphenamine Elixir (for relief of hayfever, itchiness, skin alergies) for her boy when he had the pox. most kids in our school had it in october week holidays and i got this from the pharmacy without prescription to use on my son. think it helped him, he was less itchy. i also used the cream, he didnt like the lotion.
I agree with mk1975........calamine is messy...the Chlorphenamine is better.

Thanks all, fingers crossed that they either all get it quickly (rather than spread out across weeks) or don't get it at all.
