Pneumonia And Infection.

Hi,
My sister in law was sent home from the doctors last Friday with a 'touch of Pneumonia' [I wasn't aware there was such a thing as a touch of that particular disease] . On Tuesday morning she was taken into hospital by ambulance suffering a massive asthma attack, she's still in hospital now.
I have her two kiddies staying with me and both are suffering with colds and coughs. My SIL will hopefully be out of hospital later today and [maybe] reunited with the kids tomorrow.
And so.... my question is: Are any of them a risk to each other? Could the kids pass the cold they have to her and make her ill again or vice versa?

Pneumonia is swelling of the lung so I imagine they meant there was a bit of swelling maybe?

If she has been through that then she needs to rest and get better and I'd be loathe to expose her to any more germs if it can be avoided.

It hit for me six when I had viral pneumonia.

The hospital should be able to give some guidance as to how she is now and precautions which should be taken, especially depending on how stable her asthma now is.

You either have pneumonia............or you don't.
Like pregnancy.....you are either pregnant or you are not.
You can't have "a touch" of either of the above.

Difficult....kids with URTI's and mum coming home from hospital after an asthma attack.

Tell the hospital and let them make the decision to discharge her or not.

Thank you Eve, I am just a little worried as the kids seem to be permanently poorly with one bug or another, you know what they're like at that age [2 and 5]. I was planning on letting them go home tomorrow or Sunday if she is home just for a visit then letting the 5 year old stay home with them as she has someone who can take him to and from school but bringing the 2 year old back with me for a while so that my SIL can get some rest.
I'm now wondering if that is such a good idea :0/ Do you think the hospital would talk to me?

Sorry Sqad, you weren't there when I posted.

Thats what I thought concerning the 'you either have it or you don't'.

I've just spoken to her and the hospital have said that she is to under no circumstances knowingly put herself in contact with any infection... Looks like I'm stuck with the little snot buckets... Oh the joy!

lol..I don't believe that for a minute!
I sent her [SIL] some pictures of them this morning... the 5 year old washing up and the 2 yr old on a chair at the cooker... gotta love a bit of child labour!
