Massive Sharp Pain...
50 Answers
Just had a really sharp pain, below my belly button and on my right.
It was really painful and I had a wave of nausea either it. Its still hurting, but more a constant lighter pain. Just taken two paracetamol and on the sofa afraid to move.
Any ideas?
(am on my phone so replying isn't quick sorry)

I feel your pain with the fibre drinks. I wouldn't eat anything as a kid and was forced to drink those things. They are vile! The sight of a sachet makes me feel sick.

Mittleschmertz can be horribly painful.
Can you still get fibresure sachets? I used them a few years back and you can't taste them when put in cordial, much easier than fybogel and such (urgh, horrid stuff).
Laxatives should not be taken for prolonged periods or regularly without medical supervision. I find lactulose a good gentle one though I rarely have that issue, it's way the other way for me.
Have you ever tried keeping a food diary?

Rocky - a period is the shedding of the womb lining. Sometimes an egg isn't released. Once ovulation has taken place a lady is only fertile around 3 days mid month. So if an egg isn't released, or isn't fertilised, menstruation occurs.
It certainly sounds like you need more roughage in your diet, this is an American site but the info is good

Got this weird tightening thing going on again, and having really concentrated on the area, it seems to be to the sides of my abdomen, as opposed to the centre. It's like tightening/cramping - but with no pain. Could this be IBS and a side effect of not being able to go to the toilet?
I did tell the doctor how often I was going (not going) but he didn't seem concerned. My thinking was that the swelling in my abdomen might be caused by some kind of blockage? I feel like I'm just clutching at straws here though, I have absolutely no idea.
Thanks for the further tips and advice. I do eat a fair amount of fruit, could eat more I suppose. However, I do drink lots and lots of bottled water, so definitely not dehydrated. I drink so much in the hope it will get things moving, but no such luck. I will try some flaxseed though, as I used to have it on cereal.
I can't eat much, cos I always feel full up after a small amount. Again, my reason for thinking there may be something 'there'.
Anyway, thanks again :)

Madmen I have had everything from diarrhoea and constipation - it is definitely connected to the constipation. Buy yourself a bag of pure bran - it is in the supermarkets - not allbran - it is like powdery stuff - and it is brilliant. You can put into soups, milk, yogurts. Give yourself a day or two and you will see yourself going more often. once a week is not normal - with my ibs I go about 10 times a day. Please get this pure bran it should be near weetabix, cornflakes counter etc.
