Visited my GP today to ask for something a bit stronger to help with muscular pain (neck, shoulder and back). He asked if the pain affected my sleep to which I replied that it didnt,,,pain only bothers me when I am awake. He has suggested that I take 2x 30mg codeine at bedtime and naproxin during the day. I'm baffled as to why hes told me to take the codeine?? Any ideas?

Sorry....I too am confused.
Because it makes you drowsy?
Drug company backhanders ?
Relaxant?
Codeine's generic, canary, I wouldn't think so......
I think your GP has prescribed 2x 30mg codeine to kill the pain at night and to help you sleep, maybe he misunderstood you? if you are not a regular to codeine, 2x 30mg codeine will make you very fuzzy headed and sleepy.
RATTER...what pain?
OP says she has muscular pain.
boxy....I know, but OP says it doesn't keep her awake at night........so why painkillers before bedtime?
Knock her out - sleep - relax?
Sqad: hence "maybe he misunderstood you?"
boxy...........I give in.......;-)
Perhaps GP wasn't listening to ILB, crossed wires :-)
Come on Sqad, keep up, it is not impossible for a GP to misunderstand?
RATTER.....;-)
you should try physio or massage rather than codeine. codeine is a very strong painkiller, which is opiate based-heroin addicts are given it to help control their withdrawals in hospital and police custody and when they cant get a hit on the street their only option is codeine! it can cause fatigue and sleepiness, constipation. sleepinesswhich is why he is reccomending it azt night. its also highly addictive. if you go to talk to frank . com it explains more there. only use it if you really have to or really cant sleep because of the pain

Sorry boxtops, life's made me a very cynical conspiracy theorist.

Only last week I felt compelled to flounce out of another forum after being attacked for making remarks about Planning Inspectors taking bribes !

Must try to be more trusting.
