As a young boy I always had a runny nose.  SO when I went to bed I always held on to a hankie.  Now I am 45 I still hold on to a hankie in bed if I don't I find it difficult to settle.  Then if I awake during the night and the hankie is not in my hands  I can't settle again untill I find it again,  I even at times got up to get another one

ha ha...that's so funny hopalong.  That did make me laugh.  For me, I have to check my front door is looked 4 times before I can leave.  Not so much a habit....more weird then anything.
I have to put my hair over my ear when I sleep so bugs don't go in it. (weird I know). I can't eat a sandwich without a bag of crisps either.
And butter lives in the fridge!
Boy,and I thought I was weird! LOL
Hop- I am the same! I always had a runny nose and a hanky too, and I still need a hanky about my person. However, since I gave up dairy, the runny nose has gone, and I am slightly less worried about not having one in bed. But I do like to keep one under the pillow for emergencies!!! (At least you don't suck your thumb like my 36 year old sister does..)
aaaaaah , BLESS YOU !
Hey kazzee  I'm with you on the sandwich and bag of crisps, it just isnt the same if you only have a sarnie.
In my house all the teaspoons MUST face the same way in the cutlery drawer and the toilet seat lid will remain down at all times (unless we're using it obviously)

I can't settle at night until I've kissed my son (mother thing I guess) but even if I've kissed him, then gone to the toilet and then to bed I can't sleep until I've got up and gone and kissed him again!!
nfn- that is SO sweet. Compulsive, but sweet. Your son will grow up thinking he really is THAT irresistable!!!x
I did exactly the same as you hopalong, loved to have a hankie to hold on to.Although I think it started with me because I used to hang onto a favourite blanket when I was young.Oh the comfort!
Fortunately Scarlett, he's always asleep.
None of us are that irresistable!
