My cracked ribs (more than one apparently) are much better after seven weeks. The only cure is patience and in the meantime the pain is very bad. I sympathise deeply with you, or maybe that should be empathise. The doctor gave me Zapain which is a mixture of 500 mgs paracetamol and 30 mgs codeine. Thank goodness they worked - well not completely but they helped....

Always eat a reasonably substantial snack or meal around half an hour before taking an opiate based painkiller.
I take Tramadol and cannot (even after several years on them) take them on an empty stomach without feeling nauseous.
What about a topical NSAID as well as tramdol ( I rate tramadol, I think it's an awesome drug, however it can cause delayed ejaculation if that's of concern to you and if you're inclined to it, it can send you a bit doolally), diclofenac gel always seems to hide a multitude of ouchies. Our doctors prescribe it often to people with ulcers, asthma etc
