Lansoprazole Via Ng Tube

Client has severe learning difficulties and has a NG tube. The lansoprazole has blocked the tube x2. Thought about crushing the tablet before administering using water. Has anyone got any ideas or experience?

Why does he need a NG tube?
Why not get Lansoprazole Suspension (Liquid form)?

There is a product available in the UK called Zoton FasTab which is lansoprazole in a form which can melt on the tongue. Would that be any good?
Crushing or opening the capsules up to administer the product would still be problematic as inside the capsule are lots of tiny 'beads' containing the medicine. Crushing these 'beads' would render the medicine inactive, plus they can still clump together in the NG tube.

When we have peg feeds in, dilute a disintigrating tablet with water then flush. I imagine thats the same with NGs.

flipping hell, you've been putting lanzoprazole tablets whole down an ng tube??!?!?!

Currently using zoton which has caused the problem. There is suspension available but it is at a price. We have omitted it the last two days but the client displayed a lot of pain today so felt I had to administer. Crushed it and administered in two doses in water with flushes either side. I kind of shake the syringe with a colleague tapping it so that it does not all go down the tube at the same time. This worked well. I think it may be just people's technique.
