Ear Not Working Properly

I had a bad ear a couple of weeks back but managed to sort it out with Otex ear drops. However, it's reoccurred and I tried Otex (and yes, cotton wool buds) and it's been bad for two weeks now. Can hardly hear anything in my right ear and it feels like it is wet inside. Is it time for a visit to the quacks?

Definitely. Probably otitis externa. I`ve had otitis media a few times - not nice. You need someone to look in there with an otoscope and if you have an infection, they can give you antibiotics.
Fraid so - might be wax build up, but sounds more like an infection.

Antibiotic ear drops and/or oral antibiotics will sort it much more safely that poking with a stick ...

It is truly doing my head in. It doesn't hurt (although I am pretty sure I have a high pain threshold), my hearing is usually brilliant. Will ring the quacks tomorrow and hope I don't get the horrible one.

Ps - wouldn't bother normally (not big on doctors) but need my ears working properly so I can hear the kids in the night (rare, but necessary) and on the walk to school and back.
