My 17 year old son has been throwing up for two and a half weeks. I took him to the doctor, who has given him buscopan and told him to keep a food diary for 3/4 weeks. Then go back to see him with diary. It has come on quite suddenly, but he is nauseous or sick most days, often straight after eating. We are two weeks into the food diary. Is there anything else i can do?
thank you

pixie....... ....my only other contribution is migraine (abdominal migraine)... is there a history or family history of migraine? I agree two and a half weeks is a long time.

pixie.....I am not sure that painkillers would be of any help with abdominal migraine as pain is not a prominent feature.
Difficult.....very ..very difficult.
One would need to try anti depressants like any of the tryptans, but it is a field in which my expertise dwindles into nothing.
Mention it to your doctor.

I have considered that, always confused, and spoken to him. He is the least stressed person I know, generally. He is very happy with friends at school, he doesn't drink. I've bought him a beer twice so he can try it and hopefully learn in moderation. His sister has tried cannabis and he lectured her about it. He is finding A-levels harder than he expected though. But I have pointed out it is his choice to be at school at his age and that if he wants to work instead, it's up to him and not to make himself ill over it.
many thanks alwaysconfused and sqad. Will keep on with diary and take him back to doc. X

pixie, my son started the vomiting last year when he started secondary school and I was convinced he was being bullied. He was being sick most days or at least feeling very sick. To cut a long story short he was also diagnosed with abdominal migraine, which made sense as i suffer from migraines. A year later and he is miles better. Hope your son gets well soon x
He refused to take any medication as it was tablet based and he just cannot swallow tablets. We found changing his evening routine helped with the mornings ie not on x-box etc in dark room till late though whether this was more for my benefit who knows! Anyway, it just started to ease very gradually over the months. He was also told to keep a food diary and avoid fizzy drinks.
