Thanks for link, I have tried the wet tea shirts on more than one episode through warm eather,, it works well to agree, but not if you have a partner/husband, you end up boiling hot
It would be impossible to sleep due to noise if we opened a window at night, the noise travels in a very odd manner because it is a narrow street with tall victorian terraced houses, the street is also used as a rat run to the inner part of the village so there is a fair bit of traffic noise.
Worked for an Indian man several year ago. He said that the British were mad when it came to hot weather. He could not understand why we open all the doors and windows. He said that in India you shut the windows/shutters and pull the curtains or pull down the blinds to keep the heat out!
I've done this ever since with the bedroom, and it works!
Like to see the sun in the living room though.
When we lived in France the neighbours thought we were the 'strange' english couple because we used to open the windows during the daytime in the hot weather! They kept the windows and shutters closed until after sunset!
