St John's wort and anxiety

Is St John's wort effective in treating anxiety, or does it only work for depression? I have looked at other similar questions on AB but can't find an answer.

st johns wort is multi purpose like many other herbs..its used for...neuralgia...pain in coccyx...any injuries to flesh rich in nerves...anxiety...stress..depression...menopausal nervouusness...and cramps..the actual herb itself can also be soaked and used as acompress for rheumatism...the actions of it are as follows...astringent..antiviral..relaxing nervine..anti depressant..sedative..anti inflammaory..cardio tonic..analgesic....
