have recently started on warfarin due to AF , also taking Flecainide to regulate heartbeat, echocardiogram showed no damage to the heart so don't know yet what is causing the AF, while I wait for an appointment to see a cardiologist I am thinking of giving up the booze although I do have a couple of beers at the mo, do most people on warfarin give up the booze, am retirement age now

Retired, few pleasures in life.....now on warfarin.
If it were me, I would certainly avoid drinking to excess, no binge drinking or getting drunk, but I would not hesitate to have a couple of whiskeys at night or perhaps a glass of wine with my evening meal.
I've been on it for a couple of years now and the advice I've been given is not to overdo it, because there's always the possibility of a bleed if you bruise or cut yourself. They do say, however, that little and regular is fine. "A couple of beers" is exactly the amount my guys approved.
thank you, I have never been used to just having a couple my whole life which is why I said I would consider giving up altogether as I did with smoking , a lot of people my age don't drink or smoke and are quite happy, my logic says if there is no problem with the heart then what is wrong with an aspirin each day!!! but maybe I will wait to see if I end up on warfarin long term or not
